Young women's perception of body shaming and their own bodies through their narration
Štefančová, Marie ; Divíšek, Tereza (advisor) ; Hrešanová, Ema (referee)
This bachelor's thesis explores the perception of one's own body from the perspective of adolescent and young adult women. It focuses primarily on how women evaluate their own appearance in the context of social norms and expectations, how their view has been influenced by their surroundings over time, and what positive or negative phenomena these influences have brought about. The theoretical part of the thesis defines and explains some of the concepts associated with the issue and reflects on previous academic research on the perception of one's own body in relation to societal expectations. The practical part then consists of an analysis of data collected in narrative interviews with young women, in which it was established how the narrators perceived their own bodies, how their perceptions had evolved over the years or who influenced them. Psychological aspects of Instagram
TRPKOVÁ, Dominika
The bachelor thesis deals with the current topic of psychological impacts of social networks, namely the influence of Instagram on the perception of Self. The thesis uses the design of a theoretical study devoted to the analysis of current foreign studies, which primarily deal with the importance of using Instagram to reflect its own self-image and the degree of its influence on changes in satisfaction with one's body. Another important theoretical part was the research focused on narcissism as a personality trait often referred to as one of the key motives for increased activity on social networks. The last thematic area deals with the results of research on self-presentation on Instagram, namely both the strategies of the presentation itself and the social perception of others. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to introduce the basics of the psychological perspective on the influence of social networks (specifically Instagram as a means of self-presentation) on the individual, the partial goal was to describe the methodology of social network research. The analysis shows the methodological diversity of the used approaches and the ambiguity of the results. However, there is evidence of the influence of media and social networks on the perception of our physical ideal and there is evidence of the influence of narcissism on sharing and adding self-presenting photos to Instagram.
